I thought I would post a few sound clips up from my previous existance as a musician!

Some are of me playing the trumpet, some are of my arrangements, usually with me playing them.

If anyone is interested in any arrangments, drop me a line through the contact me page. I've done quite a few for 10-piece brass, big band and singers plus band (5 to 12 piece). I'm currently in, well not retirement as trumpet player - let's call it hibernation for now - the beast is taking a sleep but it will wake up soon.

Trumpet

With the Grandeur of the Seas Orchestra, circa 1998 - I'm playing lead trumpet.

Hal Frasier, one of the classiest acts in the world.

When Will I See You Again (3m 35s)

Not much action in the trumpet department, but here are The Coasters

Yakety Yak (5m 17s)

Occassionally on the Legend of the Seas the Musical Director (Melanie Sacalamitao) and I would give a small classical concert in the central atrium of the ship. The casino bells, Purser's desk and other noise is just a day in the life of a cruise ship musician...though I'm not aware of any other Lead Trumpet player playing concertos for fun!

Hummel Trumpet Concerto, 3rd Movement (3m 39s)

Arrangements

Here are a selection of arrangements I completed for the Intrada Brass Ensemble.

The first one is an arrangement that was created to mark Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee in 2002. It's called Radio Days and provides a nostalgic reminder of tuning in the wireless and stumbling across your favorite show. It incorporates some electronic 'tuning in' at the start - then have a listen and count the tunes!

Radio Days (7m 30s)

These Intrada recordings were all made at Chorley Town Hall around Christmas 2002.

I'm also playing lead trumpet on these and featured on some some of the jazz solos along with Cliff Ray.

On the Street Where You Live (3m 29s)

Mel Torme's Christmas Song (3m 12s)

Tequila (4m 28s)

I hope to include some thoughts on my arranging philosophy and technique...for now you can download a very small paper I compiled for a lecture at Accrington and Rossendale College, called simply:

Commercial Arranging for Brass (.pdf 1.2Mb)
